1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 W-30 4-speed hardtop. Viking Blue with black hood stripes, W-30 side stripes and trunk pin striping. It has been recently restored to OEM specifications. It has a numbers-matching engine and all of the W-30 options including the correct, rebuilt/restored, aluminum intake, 'H' heads, carburetor, distributor, 'W' and 'Z' code exhaust manifolds and 'Rock-Crusher' Muncie M22 4 speed transmission and Hurst shifter. Include manual disc brakes, W-25 Outside Air Induction system, HD cooling system with Harrison radiator, power steering, 3.42 posi-traction rear end, Rally Pack gauge cluster with Tic-Toc-Tac, sport steering wheel, working clock, map light and lighted rear view mirror, black bucket seat console, working AM/FM stereo and 8-track player, power trunk release, hood lock, floor mats and dual sport mirrors. All of the glass is date coded and brand new. It has all new wiring, a rear-deck spoiler, bumper guards and beautiful SS-I wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, which are my favorite wheel/tire combination. This 1971 Oldsmobile 442 was originally purchased in North Carolina and it spent the first 45 years of its life with just two owners. I purchased it in 2013 and immediately invested a sizable amount in having it undergo a complete rotisserie restoration. This included stripping the body/frame down to bare metal ensuring that it was built back to factory specifications, including professional paint, complete restoration of the interior, new vinyl top installing, suspension and more. The original engine was also completely rebuilt as well. I have all receipts in case you are interested. FYI - The motor is original, but the transmission, heads, intake, carburetor, distributor, rear end are not, but are all OEM parts that have been restored. The red fender wells are nice reproductions.

I purchased the car from a gentleman in North Carolina, who was adamant that the car was a true W-30.  He mentioned that all of the W parts were stolen while in the paint shop.  I spoke with several of the seller's friends and business partners who knew of the car and they also believed it to be a legitimate W-30 car.  The car was in pieces when I bought it and freshly painted dark blue.  After I hauled the car back home, I disassembled the body from the frame and had both media blasted to bare metal.  The car had very little rust and what was there was repaired with metal patches and primed.  The frame had virtually no damage and was powdercoated along with many other components like the sway bars, controls arms, anti-skip (frame reinforcement) bars and fender support bars.  The front and rear suspensions were rebuilt with new and restored components from Moog (rubber).  I made the decision to restore the car using only OEM parts, then went on a 2-3 year search for all of the missing components.  After finding and restoring them, I began putting the car back together according to the assembly manual.  I've added an AM/FM stereo, 8-track player, remote trunk release, hood lock, tilt wheel, power steering and a vinyl roof because I like the look.  The paint is the correct Viking blue based on the trim tag's exterior color code of '26'.  A subtle amount of blue pearl was added to the clear coat to make to the paint pop a bit more in the sun.  Much preparation was performed prior to painting the car.  You can immediately see the quality work when viewing the very straight body.  An original OAI hood came with the car, but had too much rust and fiberglass damage, so I purchased a reproduction OAI hood from Thornton Muscle Cars, who makes a very correct and quality product.  Inside, the seats were fully restored using aftermarket seat covers, but all of the door panels are original.  The dash and all instrumentation and lighting are original.  The original, numbers-matching engine was rebuilt to 1970 specifications according to the seller.  I removed the existing cast iron intake manifold and installed the factory aluminum one.  The correct and extremely hard-to-find 'H' heads were completely rebuilt with hardened valve seats for modern gas.  The rotating assembly looked very clean, but I put assembly lube on everything and re-broke-in the engine with 20 minute, 2000 RPM run.  Virtually everything is either new or restored on the car.  The items that are not OEM  include reproduction red inner fenders from The Parts Place (which were the best fitting of several I tried), brand new date-coded glass, reproduction bias ply tires from Coker and other items like carpet, trunk mat, weatherstriping, headliner and vinyl top.  There are correct 14x7 SSI wheels all around the car, including the spare, with Firestone Wide Oval tires that I think are the best wheel/tire combination.  Cool items, pardon the pun, are a rebuilt Harrison radiator, with a rare factory overflow unit.  There is also an extremely rare lower air dam support on the vehicle; very hard to find.  All of the hoses, belts and spark plug wires are factory, date-coded reproductions.  The transmission, drive shaft and rear end are all non-born-with items, but are period correct factory parts and all have been rebuilt.  The car has been driven and shaken-down and most all issues have been corrected.  To judge the quality of my restoration, I took the car to the Inline Tube show in 2017.  They are manufacturers of many items, but are considered experts in GM A-Body cars, especially the 442.  I received the 'Best Restored' award.  After the show, I spoke with the 442 expert and one of the owners, and asked him about all that was good/bad with may car.  He pointed a few things out and within the next few months I corrected them.  Not quite satisfied, I contacted a local Oldsmobile expert to come by and review the car.  He spent about two hours reviewing the car and pointed out a few more issues, which were addressed as well.  He presented me with a detailed, written appraisal that is available for inspection.  I even presented the car for review on a couple of W-30 specific websites.  Again, I received valuable comments that were addressed.  I even spoke with a W-30 expert at length over the phone about all of the indicators of a real W-30 car.  The car had all of them.  I have put a lot of time into researching the car, including a title search, which gave me the name of the original owner.  He verified he was the original owner and that it was a legitimate W-30 optioned car.  He supplied an affadavit to that affect.
