Award Winning 1964.5 / 1965 Mustang Convertible
Concours Restored - Southern California Car
Mustang aficionados and classic car collectors lovingly refer to the earliest 1965 Mustangs (manufactured August 17, 1964 or earlier) as 1964 ½ models since there were several changes made to the later cars. This beautiful restored Mustang in the listing was manufactured on May 2, 1964 and still retains the original/unique 1964 ½ rarities that it was built with by Ford.
The data plate affixed to the car confirms the May 2, 1964 production date, Rangoon Red paint with Red interior, automatic transmission and Los Angeles as the DSO.
This expertly restored “California Black License Plate” Mustang Convertible was first purchased in Los Angeles back in 1964 and according to the Title documents it has been a California car its entire life...
An extensive, multi year, nut & bolt concours rotisserie restoration of a clean rust-free Mustang using mostly original (non reproduction) parts was completed in 2008. Soon after, this freshly restored pony went on to win 1st Place for its year/class in the 2009 Western United States National Mustang Show hosted by the Mustang Owner’s Club of California.
Being one of the finest 1964 ½ Mustangs, this concours restored Convertible Pony was prominently featured indoor at Ford’s Huge 50th Anniversary Celebration for the Mustang at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2014.
