1957 Chevy Bel Air is very reliable
I’ve had it for around 19 years or so and has been my daily driver in the summers and for long road trips. It’s not a show car, but it’s a fun car that gets a lot of attention. The car is very solid.
The story behind the 57, I picked it up in Texas and drove it back. The previous owner kept it all stock. Then one day a limb fell on the roof and damaged it, so he took it to a shop and they modified the car and made it into a full time convertible. Then they upholstered a cover for the back dash and reupholstered the seats and door panels with marine vinyl. Along with all this he pulled the 6 cyl and replaced it with a sbc 350 and a TH350 tranny.
I wouldn’t hesitate to drive this car across the country again. The motor and tranny are very strong. I’ve kept up on all the maintenance myself including carb rebuild, ball joints, steering bushings, brakes (cylinders, pads, etc.), and much more!
If you’re looking for a cool car to drive around DAILY and not one that’ll just sit in the garage and collect dust, then this is one for you!
