1950 Chevrolet Bel Air Stylelilne Deluxe Two door Hardtop
GM'S first year for the Chevy Hardtop.
I bought this car for the first time in 1980 from the original owner when it
had about 70 thousand miles, at that time this car was in absolutely pristine
original condition, It had the add on A/C that worked great as I used to drive it
in the hottest part of the summer, with no issues.
Now fast forward to last December while driving through an industrial area I saw
this mist green and deteriorated black 50 HT in a fenced in area, I got in touch
with the present owner who had purchased it from an estate about 10 years ago.
Upon closer inspection when I saw the hang air unit I was sure it was my old car,
when I got back home I went through some old pictures and found one of the car
with the same plate that it still has now. The owner purchased the car disassembled,
engine removed etc. and was willing to sell it to me. I had to buy it and save it from it's
unfortunate state of neglect. I have done a lot of cleaning, put the bumpers back on
installed the fender skirts etc. The engine and transmission are out of the car, the engine
does turn over and comes with a lot of parts, missing is the gas tank, master cylinder and
I'm sure a few other items. I have a small stack of receipts from the 1960's including one
from 1964 when the A/C unit was installed.
The car as far as i can tell is totally rust free, I'm pretty sure it's still original paint and interior in
an obvious deteriorated condition.
