Description

1970/1979 F150 4 x 4
What exactly is this truck? While it looks like a 1970, only the body is 1970. Everything else is 1979. I bought a 1970 F250 2wd and a 1979 F150 4x4 and put the 1970 body on the 1979 chassis. So you get the classic look of the “bump” with the handling and power of a 1979.
The VIN is the 1970 F25HKJ51471

1979 133 M(white) F141 (f150 4wd pickup) KB4(Ranger XLT style side) K (3spd auto) H@ (35LS) A (adj power steering)
1970 131F (mohave tan) F254 (styleside) C4 (interior parchment) G (automatic) 37 (3.54 Dana 60)
The 1979 4 x 4 was a frame off nut and bolt restoration. Everything from the ground to the body was completely rebuilt. The only thing we did not rebuild is the transmission and it has been great.
375HP, 450 ftlbs torque.
4WD with limited slip front and rear - That’s right, full 4wd.
3.5 ratio limited slip
The block and iron heads were stripped and sent to Oreillys. Bored 40 over and new iron heads.
The engine is a 400 TMeyer build. Google it. He is the world expert for building on the 351M/400 platform. The bottom line is it is a torque monster with a mild cam with the power in the off idle to 4000 rpms range. While it has not been dynoed, Tim Meyer has built many and estimated the engine at 375HP+ and 450 ftlbs torque. I use 91 octane pump gas with no ethanol. I think the engine cost about $6500. External balanced.
