This 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Coupe is a fantastic example of a complete nut and bolt, frame-off restoration. It's powered by a Chevrolet 383ci stroker V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor and a modified 3-speed automatic transmission. All original paperwork and restoration receipts are included.
The car has been garage-kept since restoration and has approximately 1,000 miles on the odometer 98,608. It features power steering, power brakes, a modern stereo system, and Vintage Air Conditioning. The exterior is Festival Red and Alcan White with a black and chrome interior.
Exterior:
The Festival Red and Alcan White paint highlights straight panels and precise gaps. The car has Blackwall tires with dog dish ribbed hubcaps and are free of rust.
Interior:
The interior has been meticulously restored. The black rounded metal dash top includes a speedometer & molded metal oval clock. Includes a modern AM/FM radio. An additional duct panel for the Vintage heat & AC unit is integrated below. A modern steering wheel is on an adjustable column. The front and rear solid benches are upholstered in black leather with black inserts and bolsters, all in excellent condition. Black carpeting and black and red accented door panels. Shiny handles and cranks and the seats are set in chromed tubs. The trunk has black steel and a relocated battery.
Drivetrain:
The 383ci V8 engine produces 455 horsepower, topped with a Quick Fuel 4-barrel carburetor. It has a Howards .530i/.545e lift camshaft. A professionally built TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, with a Hughes GM25TH torque converter and a Tran Go shift kit, transfers power to the 3.64 Posi traction equipped rear axle. All components are like new. The original 371ci J2 V8 engine and Hydramatic transmission are included.
Undercarriage:
The frame has been stripped and painted, the front independent coil spring suspension rebuilt, and the rear leaf springs re-sprayed. Power brakes include Wilwood discs in the front and drums in the rear. A dual exhaust system exits under the bumper.
Drivability:
The car starts and drives effortlessly, with a smooth ride and impressive acceleration. The only minor observations were that the clock did not keep accurate time, and the reverse lights did not illuminate.
